Pay attention to the fire safety of automobile interior materials

Figure 1 Bus on Fire
In recent years, the continuous occurrence of passenger car fires has exposed the weaknesses and deficiencies of passenger car fire retardancy. Experts analyze that one of the important reasons is that the decorative materials in the car cannot meet the flame retardant requirements or the flame retardant requirements are not enough. Theoretically, no matter how good the flame retardant material is, it cannot stop the deflagration of gasoline, but it can suppress the continuous combustion of the car's interior materials after deflagration and delay the secondary deflagration of the car's own fuel. Studies have shown that if you do not do flame retardant treatment, the car fire, the fire spread extremely quickly, the scene personnel escape time is only 2 minutes, if the use of flame retardant products can make the fire scene personnel escape time extended 9-10 times, increased to 20 minutes.

So the world's current automotive interior materials flame retardant standards and technical requirements can play to prevent and delay the effect of fire, to buy time for escape:

Table 1 National industry standards
From the simple comparison of Table 1, we can find that as long as the horizontal burning rate is less than 100 mm/min, it can almost pass the flame retardant test of automobile interior parts in various countries in the world. According to the introduction of relevant industry insiders, the horizontal burning rate of less than 100 mm/min is a very low threshold, so that most plastics can meet the requirements almost without any flame retardant treatment. Such interior materials actually become "combustion-supporting materials" in the event of a fire in public transportation ". Some mainstream car companies in the world have already formulated stricter corporate standards based on national and industry standards, but these standards are still not safe enough for passenger cars with large passenger capacity. In this regard, Zhou Zhengmao, secretary-general of the Chinese Flame Retardant Society, suggested that relevant standards should be revised as soon as possible to improve the flame retardant level of car interior materials such as school buses, buses, and buses to ensure the safety of passengers.
