The first batch of 20 science and technology small giant enterprises and 50 small giant cultivation enterprises received a total of 0.16 billion yuan from the urban two-level government, driving enterprises to invest more than 2.4 billion yuan in innovation.

According to the mid-term inspection of the first batch of small giant projects selected by the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the sales revenue of 20 small giant enterprises in 2006 reached 6.78 billion yuan, with an average of nearly 0.34 billion yuan per enterprise. The sales revenue of 50 small giant cultivation enterprises reached 5.11 billion billion yuan in 2006, with an average of more than 100 million yuan per enterprise. As the market size is getting bigger and bigger, the innovators of the selected companies have become more and more substantial: As of the end of July 2007, 70 companies had a total of 1136 patents, an increase of 53% from when they were selected.

On the other hand, following the start of the municipal little giant project, various districts and counties have launched their own little giant projects according to the regional industrial positioning. For example, Xuhui District gives 1 million, 800000 and 500000 yuan of financial support to district-level small giants according to the three levels of key promotion, key cultivation and key tracking; Yangpu District, while setting up special supporting funds for "Little Giant", has also set up a special loan guarantee fund of 20 million yuan to provide partial discount, guarantee discount and loan loss account subsidy for loans to science and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises; minhang District launched the "Search for Little Giants" among more than 4000 technology-based enterprises in the district, and found 16 "dark horses" at once and was successfully selected into the second batch of Little Giant Projects.
